Activities

The activities on site include different aspects depending on the length of your stay. Always included are guided hikes through the nature reserve, where you can learn more about the natural diversity of the flora and fauna. Also included are boat & kayak tours on one of the four surrounding rivers with the chance to see pink river dolphins. During your stay you will also visit various local Achuar communities & learn more about their traditions & their way of life in harmony with nature.

How to get there

We meet in Shell on the edge of the Amazon. From here, you will fly to Kapawi in a propeller plane in just under 50 minutes. You will have the unique opportunity to marvel at the Amazon and the endless expanses of nature from above. This flight alone is a unique experience & will put you in the perfect mood for the days & adventures ahead. Transportation from Quito to Shell can also be organized on request for an additional charge.

Accommodation

You will be staying at the beautiful Kapawi Ecolodge in the middle of nature. We welcome our guests in each of our handcrafted two and three bed bungalows, furnished with expert craftsmanship and woodwork. All buildings in Kapawi are designed in traditional Achuar architecture and built by the Achuar themselves. In our Gathering Hut there is space for social meals with friends or simply to relax after a day of adventure. At our site you will also find many private and communal areas for yoga, meditation, writing, reading, working and wellness workshops.

Impact

The ecolodge & nature reserve is still owned by the local Achuar community. In order to preserve this natural paradise and the Achuar way of life, they are dependent on tourism. With the income from your trip, nature conservation is promoted on the one hand & on the other hand an authentic encounter at eye level between the Achuar & the travelers is enabled.
