About your accomodation
Get out of your everyday life for a moment.Breathe the fresh air, listen to the birds, gaze at the lakes or the blue turacos from the terrace of your wooden house on stilts, and let not only your soul but also your legs dangle from one of the swings and hammocks.Join us at the campfire or enjoy a relaxed day biting in pineapples, mangos or avocados from my garden.
And yes, it’s off the grid, but don‘t panic, there is solar energy to charge your electronic devices.
Snuggle up in the huge king-size mattress and let fresh air in through the large French doors.
If needed, another mattress can be added to the floor if you are traveling as a group. There is light and electricity in the room thanks to solar power.
Right behind your cottage is a shower...

I'm the founder and direcor of our NGO Toonda. I emigrated from northern Germany to the crater lakes of Fort Portl, Uganda in 2018.
The Toonda Cultural Community Center (TCCC) is dedicated to uplifting the rural communities of Kyakataama Village, Uganda, through three core pillars: Women Empowerment, Education, and Arts & Culture. With 2,500 inhabitants facing poverty, inadequate housing, and limited access to education, Toonda offers crucial support to create sustainable change.
Toonda currently supports 78 children with school fees, tutoring, and extracurricular workshops. The center also provides literacy programs for both children and adults, encouraging a love for learning through book clubs and reading sessions.
For women, Toonda fosters economic independence by organizing groups such as in sewing, basket weaving, and catering, with handcrafted goods sold at the library café.
We encourage everyone to think outside the box, be innovative, and develop critical thinking skills to take charge
