Hostel Idrija is located only a 5-minute walk from the historic town center of UNESCO Idrija, where there are plenty of heritage sites to discover. Idrija has it all: culture, heritage, gastronomy, wild green nature. Our sustainable accommodation is located in an old boarding school and the energy and influence of the youth are present all around, through DIY renovation, cultural events on our terrace, and organized workshops.

Activities

Take part in a tour of the project and experience cultural and social events throughout the year. Touristic tours of the region include visits of Anthony’s Main Road, the municipal museum at Gewerkenegg castle, Topilnica, a lace school, the water wheel Kamšt, Frančiška Shaft, old miner's House, and Zgodnja Idrijca landscape park. Additionally, travelers can flyfish on the river Idrijca, participate in hiking and biking tours, lectures, workshops, and seminars.

How to get there

Hostel Idrija is located only 5 minutes of walk from the bus station.It stands on a hill above Idrija, which is very easily accessible.From the bus station, you cross the main road (Spar on your left, post office on your right) and proceed to pass the NKBM bank to reach small Aumtez square (obelisk statue) with parked cars.You cross the square and the back road direction uphill, where you will soon see some old mercury mine infrastructure on your right and stairs going up on your left...
